سه لطیفه از عبید زاکانی
۱. Someone stole Jahi’s gate. Jahi went to the mosque, unhinged the gate and carried it homeward. They asked him why he had done so. Her answered, “God knows my thief, He must make him known to me and deliver him into my hands and take back his own gate.
۲. A man claimed that he was God. He was led to the caliph. The caliph said that the year before there had been a man who claimed he was a prophet and he was hanged. “What dost thou say to that?” The man answered, “Thou didst well to have hanged him, for I had not sent him.”
۳. They told unto an Arab who was old and decrepit to repent his sins and go to Mecca to make his peace with the Almighty God. He said that he did not have money for the pilgrimage. They counseled him to sell his house and spend it on the journey. The Arab said, “When I return where would I live? And if I do not return and live in Kaaba would not the Almighty god say unto me, ‘Thou idiot, why didst thou sell thy own house and came to live in mine?’”
